DO YOU PROTECT MY FURNITURE WHEN YOU MOVE IT?

Our Great Movers Specialists will protect your furniture with our heavy duty storage blankets in your home prior to transportation. We also carry shrink wrap if your items need an extra layer of protection. Don't worry; your stuff is safe with us.

 

WHAT DOES THE TRAVEL FEE COVER? 

Our flat rate, one time travel fee covers us getting to your move location, and getting back to our office from your drop off location. We pride ourselves in giving upfront pricing, no surprises.

In addition to the hourly rate, we charge a flat travel fee. This fee covers the time spent and gas used to getting to the first location of the job from our Houston office, and getting back to our office once we’ve completed the job to your satisfaction.

Some movers charge “lot-to-lot,” meaning they begin their labor clock upon leaving their office and stop upon returning. So, if they hit traffic on the way to you, this could result in unexpected added time/costs to your bill. (Also in this scenario, the labor clock starts running before the movers arrive, so you can’t know if you’re being charged accurately or not.)

We never do this. With our flat fee, you know exactly what you’re being charged for – it’s the cost for us to send you movers, a truck, and all the supplies necessary to complete your move. The hourly rate clock covers the move itself.

 

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY ITEMS ARE DAMAGED DURING THE MOVE? Are you insured?

Standard Valuation:
We are federally mandated to pay $.60 per pound for any "damaged" item. We do reserve the right to fix any item, or replace any item if it is not able to be fixed.

Full Coverage:

We highly recommend purchasing additional coverage known as “third party insurance” through www.movinginsurance.comwww.bakerintl.com   or www.emoveinsurance.com  Their rates are very affordable, costing between 1% to 2% of the total value of your item(s) value, and insures them at their full value.

Both insurance companies will offer you a quote for 100% replacement cost coverage. Please contact either company directly for additional information or to get a quote. These are independent agencies not associated with Great Movers, LLC. You’ll need to remember to call them at least 48 hours before your move date to obtain and bind coverage.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY HOME IS DAMAGED DURING THE MOVE?

 

We will fix any cosmetic damage to walls, floors, and ceiling. Structural damage if not easily fixed will be subcontracted out through our insurance agent or a settlement will be arranged.

WHAT IS A (COI) AND WHY DO I NEED?

What is a Certificate of Insurance (COI) and why do you need it? 


A Certificate of Insurance (COI) is an official document that serves as proof that a moving company is fully licensed and insured.


Property management often requires a Certificate of Insurance from moving companies to ensure that the company you hired is fully covered to legally protect their buildings from accidental damage that may occur during the move.


Subsequently, when you are planning to move into a new apartment, whether it’s an apartment building or a condo, you may require a Certificate of Insurance. A Certificate of Insurance should be submitted by your moving company while finalizing your relocation plan.

 

Obtain a COI in a few simple steps:

 

  • The first thing you need to do is to contact both your move-out and move-in building managements to confirm if they require a Certificate of Insurance for moving. Ask for a template and if there are any other requirements.

  • Next, you will need to hand all the information you have acquired to your COI moving company to authorize them to prepare the insurance paperwork for your move. Any reputable moving company will have no problem providing a COI for you.

  • If a moving company cannot provide a COI for you, it is most likely that they won't even be permitted to enter the premises of requesting buildings. To avoid this kind of complication, it is better to ensure that the moving company you choose possesses a Certificate of Insurance before you even hire them. This way, you will be guaranteed that your movers are indeed fully insured and own moving company insurance specifically for the apartment buildings you are moving out of and into.

 

Great Movers LLC has extensive experience in providing Certificates of Insurance for our clients. We make sure to check all the details before finalizing the documents to meet all the requirements listed by your building management team, including the minimum insurance value. Request a COI.

DO YOU MOVE IN THE RAIN/SNOW? IF SO HOW DO YOU PROTECT MY ITEMS?

Yes, we move in all "non severe" weather conditions. All items will be covered by storage pads or shrink wrap as they exit your home, and wiped dry as they enter the truck or your new home.

 

DO YOU PROTECT MY HARDWOOD FLOORS, CARPET, OR TILE?

Our Great Movers Houston Specialists really, really care. We will protect all your hardwood, and tile floors when we get to your home at no extra cost. If you need full carpet shield we offer that as well for a small fee. Our goal is to make your move stress free. Your home is safe with us.

 

WHAT SIZE IS YOUR TRUCK?

Each Great Movers location has different size trucks to serve you. Our clean, shiny trucks range from 20' to a 24' mover's box.

 

WHAT HAPPENS IF ALL OF MY ITEMS DON’T FIT ON ONE TRUCK?

Our trained agents will estimate how many trucks your move will need (this if you choose to have one of our representatives visit you days before your move). In the event that all your items will not fit in one truck, the crew will make an additional trip or send an additional truck, this could have an extra charge.

 

DO I GET CHARGED ANOTHER TRAVEL FEE IF YOU HAVE TO MAKE TWO TRIPS?

No, if distances are less than 20 miles, one flat-rate upfront travel fee is charged for each truck required to complete your move.

 

DO YOU PROVIDE FIXED RATE QUOTES?

We are an hourly rate mover, however for large moves our local franchise owners can give you a flat rate estimate.

 

WHEN DOES MY HOURLY TIME START?

We don't start the clock until we arrive at your home, and we stop the clock once you confirm we've moved everything you need us to move.

 

CAN YOU MOVE PLANTS?

Yes, but plants can be tricky to move so we recommend you move them ahead of time so they don't get damaged.

 

CAN YOU MOVE BOXES WITH NO LIDS ON THEM?

All boxes must be covered, if there is no cover available, we ask that you repack or allow our Great Movers specialists to provide boxes for a small charge.

 

HOW IS MY FURNITURE PROTECTED WHEN YOU MOVE IT?

We used shoulder harness straps and padded dollies to help prevent any damage to large furniture items. If necessary our Great Movers Specialists will wrap your items before we move them to further protect them from any damage.

 

DO YOU HIRE DAY LABOURERS OR DO YOU HAVE YOUR OWN EMPLOYEES?

Great Movers uses only our own employees, who are thoroughly trained and certified to be Great Movers Houston Specialists. Our movers are awesome!

 

DO YOUR PRICES CHANGE ON THE WEEKENDS?

Great Movers Houston may charge peak pricing during the busiest times of the year due to higher operational costs; however, we always provide upfront rates during the estimate process and you will know the hourly rate before booking your move. No surprises on move day! ​

 

ARE YOU LICENSED, INSURED?

All our local Great Movers Houston locations are fully insured and licensed to provide you worry free service. All our Great Movers Specialists are trained to make your day stress free and easy, almost fun!

 

DO YOU HAVE ANY HIDDEN FEES?

Great Movers Houston only gives upfront pricing. We have no hidden fees, our prices are all inclusive. We charge an hourly rate for your move that is quoted to you upfront, and the only other charge is our flat-rate one time travel fee, which is explained to you ahead of time. No suprises, just awesome movers with a smile!

 

WHAT FORM OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

Great Movers Houston accept credit card payments, while some may also accept  cash.

 

DO YOU MOVE PIANOS?

Great Movers Houston moves upright . Baby Grand pianos may be moved, but we need to come and give you an on-sight estimate just to make sure we can keep your piano safe and secure during the move.

 

WILL YOU DISASSEMBLE AND REASSEMBLE MY BED?

Great Movers Houston Specialists will disassemble and reassemble all standard beds. Custom made beds or baby cribs will need to be disassembled before we arrive, and then we will move them with care to your new home.

 

DO YOU PROVIDE SENIOR A SENIORS CITIZEN DISCOUNT?

We provide all discounts through advertisements we send out, or you find online.
 

WHAT DON'T YOU MOVE?

Here is a list of things that we do not usually move for you, however, please give us a call at 1.281.810.25.95 to discuss your specific move needs and we will do our best to accommodate them:

  • baby grand pianos.

  • Extremely heavy items, such as safes.

  • Extremely valuable items, such as jewelry, paintings, chandeliers, and fine wines.

  • Ammunition, firearms, and combustible items.

  • Appliances connected to, or items containing, gas.

  • Cars.

  • Pets.
